It's been awhile...

I find it so hard to believe that it's been almost a month since my last post !  Wow !   ... did I get distracted , or what !  ha !   Life happened.  Thank God !  I've just been doing lots of different things, catching up with old friends and making plans on what to do with my spring & summer.  I'm really looking forward to
seeing what's ahead. I'll share some of it with you as I go along.

Just this past week - I began moving all of my work out to the cabin ( formerly the store).  Seemed silly that it's just sitting there empty. I''ll now be doing ALL of my creating out there and plan to move my shipping area out there too. What a blessing that will be !  We've had it all in the workshop, but that's just gotten way too crowded. I'm very excited about it all.  I'm just getting started... I've got lots and lots of supplies still to move out there... it's a work in progress. Here are a few pics....

REally messy and not set up still...this will be my office area.

I'm even reorganizing my patterns !

Still lots to do...I want a giant chalkboard on the back wall here.

Wishing you a most wonderful week !   I hope to post more soon.  xoxo, Dru

Gettin ' Fresh !

For as long as I can remember, I've loved natural beauty treatments.  I"m really not big on fussing much over myself. But, My Dear Momma had me get in the routine long ago to cleanse my face and neck morning and night.  We used to have fun together making oatmeal scrubs and homemade masks every now and then.  Now, SHE was a natural beauty !  She had skin like porcelain.  I've been thinking a lot of that lately, I've been treating myself to honey facials and sugar scrubs again.   It's good and good for ya !

I got into the sugar scrubs a little last year. In fact... I even sold them for awhile.  I'd rather just share recipes and ideas that I have with you so that you can make them for yourself at home.  It's really fun !   These are all things that I've found via the internet over the past few years.  Oh.. these are for your body, feet and hands... (do not use the scrubs on your face)  Here are a few tried and true....

 Honey & Brown Sugar Scrub:

1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp. Honey
Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Any High Grade Oil such as Jojoba or Sweet Almond Oil
1/4 tsp. Fresh Lemon Juice or Lemon Oil (If using oil use 1/8 tsp.) (Optional)

Pour the brown sugar in to a bowl and add in oil until the brown sugar is moist, but not too saturated.  Next stir in your honey to help the whole polish come together. Drop in a dash of fresh lemon juice, and voila!  You have your very own body scrub/polish that’s such a treat.  Store in an airtight container.  This scrub is great to help get rid of that dull winter skin and give it a good polish !

Sugar/Salt Body Scrub:
1 Cup Natural Oil
1 Cup Coarse Sugar or Salt
2-3 Drops Essential Oil
To make the scrub gradually add your oil to the sugar or salt in a mixing bowl, stirring constantly.  Add in your oil until all of the sugar/salt is thoroughly dampened.  Next, add your essential oils and stir mixture well.  Remember to choose a neat jar to hold your scrub.  I recommend a thick glass jar with an airtight lid to keep the scrub fresh.  Add a bit of jute or hemp, a tag of some sort or a sprig of herbs to give your jar an extra fun touch.
When you use your scrubs, start with about a half-dollar sized amount and gently massage into your skin for a good 2-3 minutes. Remember to rinse well with warm water.   They’re so simple and inexpensive…not to mention a lot of fun.

  • Lemon Hand scrub
  • 2 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 4 TBSP of Lemon Juice (fresh or from concentrate)
  • 2 TBSP of Lemon Peel
  • Mix together until smooth... jar up in small wide mouth jars.

  • Directions for use.
    Wet hands.
    Scrub with sugar scrub.
    Rinse hands.
    Wash hands with gentle soap.
    Pat dry.
    Enjoy soft hands.

I'll just send you to a great site for many other natural facial mask recipes and tips......
http://www.healthy-skincare.com/honey-facial.html

They don't seem to tell you how long to leave the masks on.  I tried the first basic honey mask last night...and left it on for about 30 minutes.  I loved the way my face felt after I rinsed well with warm water.  Very refreshing.   I'm going to use it once a week.  Maybe I will become more BEAUTY FULL  ( smiles )

Hope you find these helpful and fun.  Enjoy the rest of your week - and DO something good for yourself !

Dru

The Farmhouse Bath...

There may be a lot of rooms in our home that are not finished yet...but, what we do have done is something I"m very proud of.   I'm very lucky to have one very cool bathroom. All designed and completed by my husband, Michael and good friend David.  This area has been finished for about 8 years now, and I've never grown tired of it.  Please...take a look around......

This massive bathroom was created from 2 rooms.
I don't take advantage of that big ol' tub often enough..... I do indulge every now and again when I feel a need for some extra pampering.
I truly love using all natural tones.

Paint colors are the same all over the upper level... "white wheat" and "driftwood beige"  by Porter Paint.
His and Hers Sinks

Lucky to have lots of places for favorite little collections.

I love handmade soap and old mirrors
 That's our shower .... I didn't get a good pic of it...it has a bench seat , lovely tile , lots of room.... 5 x 5

New ways to display things.... I LOVE this clipboard used to hang a special print - and I do love my old bottles too !

Tomorrow - I 'm making myself a fresh batch of sugar scrubs and will play with some other fun homemade useful things for bath and body..... I'll show and tell YOU how to make some too !
Wishing you a most WONDERFUL week ahead !   Thanks so much for stopping by - Come back and see me ANY time !
